Cookie Policy
This page explains what cookies are, how Fook Yuen uses them on this website, and how you can manage or turn them off at any time. We keep the explanation simple and plain — please read at your own pace.

1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device (computer, tablet or phone) when you visit. They help the website remember certain information — such as whether you have already seen a notice — so that your experience is a little smoother next time.
Cookies cannot run programs, carry viruses or access other files on your device. They are not personally identifying on their own, though some may be linked to other information about you when used together with other data.
2. Cookie Types We Use
Essential Cookies Always Active
These are necessary for the basic functions of this website to work. They include cookies that remember whether you have accepted our cookie notice, and those that support the security and integrity of the site. They cannot be switched off.
- cookieConsent — stores your cookie preferences so we do not ask again.
- Session identifiers — temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser.
Analytics Cookies
These help us understand how visitors find and use our website — for example, which pages are visited most often — so we can improve the experience. The data collected is aggregated and does not identify individual visitors.
- Google Analytics (_ga, _gid) — measures page views and visitor behaviour. Expires after 2 years (_ga) or 24 hours (_gid).
Marketing Cookies
These cookies may be set by advertising services to understand the effectiveness of outreach. They help ensure that any advertisement you may see is relevant to your interests. We use these sparingly.
- Google Ads — used to track whether a visit to this website came from an advertisement.
Preference Cookies
These cookies remember choices you make — such as your preferred language or text size — so that you do not have to set them again each visit. They do not collect information that identifies you.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on this website are set by third-party services rather than by Fook Yuen directly. These services operate under their own privacy and cookie policies:
- Google Analytics — policies.google.com/privacy
- Google Maps — used to display our location on the contact page; may set session cookies when the map is loaded.
We do not use social media tracking cookies or share data with advertising networks beyond what is described above.
4. Cookie Duration
Cookies fall into two broad categories by duration:
- Session cookies — these exist only while your browser is open and are deleted automatically when you close it.
- Persistent cookies — these remain on your device for a set period (for example, 30 days for our consent record, or up to 2 years for certain analytics cookies) unless you delete them earlier.
5. Your Cookie Preferences
You may adjust your preferences below at any time. Essential cookies are always required and cannot be turned off. Changes take effect as soon as you save them.

7. Your Rights
Under Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486), you have the right to know what personal data we hold about you, to request correction, and to withdraw consent at any time. Cookie preferences can be withdrawn by updating your choices in the preference panel above or by clearing cookies in your browser.
Withdrawing consent for non-essential cookies will not affect your ability to use this website, though some features (such as the embedded map) may display differently.
