Son of a resident · Ho Man Tin
"My father was quite resistant to the idea of leaving our flat, but after the first visit he seemed genuinely at ease. The team here knew his name the next day. He has been here eight months and calls it home now, which I did not expect so soon."

Daughter of a resident · Mong Kok
"My mother has the Daily Living Support plan and it has worked out better than I hoped. She still does what she wants each day — her routine has not really changed — but there is someone around to help when things need doing. That balance was exactly what we were looking for."

"The outings have been the best part for me, to be honest. I go to the wet market on Wednesdays now — somewhere I used to go every week for thirty years. It felt strange not going. Ka-Ho knows the vendors and we always end up staying longer than planned."

Chan Mei-Yee
Granddaughter of a resident · Kowloon Bay
"We were worried about the privacy aspect — my grandmother is very particular about her space. It turned out not to be an issue. She told me the staff knock and wait, and nobody comes in unless she has asked. Small thing, but it matters a lot to her."

"I moved to Complete Residence Living six months ago. The food is good — they remembered I cannot eat too much spice and they have not forgotten once. I was sceptical about communal dining but it has become the part of the day I look forward to most."

"The pricing is clear, which I appreciated. I had looked at a couple of other places and the costs were always more complicated than they first appeared. At Fook Yuen the monthly amount covers what it says it covers. No surprises on the bill."

A Few Resident Journeys
The Situation
A Widow Wanting Independence, Not Isolation
Mrs Cheung had lived alone in her Kowloon City flat since her husband passed. Her children worried about her managing daily errands and some of the household tasks that had become harder. She was adamant she did not want a carer living with her or anything that felt like a care home.
How We Helped
Daily Living Support, Quietly in the Background
Mrs Cheung joined the Daily Living Support plan. A familiar host visits three times a week — helping with laundry, some tidying and occasional shopping — but leaves Mrs Cheung's routine otherwise untouched. The family can call the team directly if anything concerns them.
After 6 Months
Continued Independence, Far Less Worry
Mrs Cheung has kept her flat and her independence entirely. Her children report feeling significantly less anxious. "We know someone we trust is there several times a week," her daughter told us. "That is actually all we needed."
"I had expected something much more intrusive. It is not. Mei-Fong tidies and goes. I carry on with my day."
— Mrs Cheung, resident since 2024
The Situation
A Retired Teacher Who Had Stopped Going Out
Mr Yip, 78, had spent his career teaching in Mong Kok. After retirement he had become noticeably less active — the city felt too busy to navigate alone. His daughter felt he was becoming withdrawn and hoped to find a way to reconnect him with places he had always loved.
How We Helped
Excursions Plan — Regular, Unhurried Outings
Mr Yip joined the Excursions plan. The group moves at a comfortable pace, and Ka-Ho checks in with each member individually before each outing to make sure the destination suits everyone. Mr Yip requested a visit to a particular temple he had not been to in years — it was arranged the following week.
After 3 Months
Engaged Again with the City He Knows
Mr Yip now goes on two outings each week. His daughter says his manner has changed noticeably — he talks about the other residents in the group, recounts what he saw on the last trip and has started suggesting destinations himself.
"I had forgotten how much I liked being out in the city. Not rushing — just being part of it. That is what these outings gave back to me."
— Mr Yip, resident since 2024
